Staff Spotlight
Without our hard-working, dedicated staff Couples would be just another hotel. However, our employees make the difference by asserting every effort to accommodate guests and give them an unforgettable experience. If you have a fond memory that involves our staff members, feel free to let us know by posting a message on the Couples message board so our own staff as well as other guests, can recognize their commitment. In this newsletter’s Staff Spotlight we applaud Onique, Marion, Ainsworth and Tamika.

Onique Anthony Reid, Couples Negril
Known as Reidy, this 22-year-old receptionist from Hopewell, Jamaica has been part of the Couples Negril team for the past 18 months. His friendly persona has been a great asset to the resort as he greets guests daily. His responsibilities also require him to check-out guests, which of course is never as fun as checking them in. Reidy appreciates the “absolutely amazing” camaraderie of the Couples Negril staff and management teams. When not at work, he can be found watching action movies, listening to rhythm and blues or eating pork with rice and peas, fried plantains and mashed potatoes. If he were stranded on a deserted island, he would bring his girlfriend, food and water. Reidy has played a special role in one of our guest’s lives. He was asked to attend a guest’s wedding to giveaway the bride during the ceremony what an honor!.

Marion Jenett Walker, Couples Sans Souci
For the past seven years, guests at Sans Souci have been able to find Marion, better know as Mar, serving up delicious meals and delectable treats. Her position has enabled her to meet many guests and spend quality time with all of them, learning their likes and dislikes. Her favorite part of being a waitress is meeting and learning about guests from different ethnic backgrounds. Born in Port Maria, Mar now resides in St. Mary where she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her children. Some of her favorites include rice & peas and chicken, musician Beenie Man and the film Love Don’t Cost a Thing. Mar says if she was stranded on a deserted island and only had three items to bring with her, she would bring a man, food and music.

Ainsworth St. Richard Williams, Couples Ocho Rios
It is no surprise that the 6’6” lobby host is nicknamed Higher Level. Towering above most staff and guests, he warmly welcomes and greets arriving visitors. Upon guest departures, Ainsworth is there as a familiar face to bid them farewell. Previously a bellman, he has recently been promoted to Lobby Host. His most moving guest experience to date was a time he remembers witnessing a guest crying because she did not want to leave the resort now that’s an emotional connection! During his time off, Higher Level enjoys spending quality time with his children, going to football matches and live reggae shows. If he is not listening to the Ruff Cut Reggae Band, he may be watching his favorite movie Untouchables, hanging out in Mandeville or eating Pacasa, a fish and coconut dish native to St. Mary, Jamaica. Higher Level would be well-prepared to face life on a deserted island because he would bring a box of matches, a knife and bottled water.

Tamika Jones, Couples Swept Away
Tamika is making a difference in people’s lives daily at Couples Swept Away. As the resort’s wedding coordinator, Tamika makes sure that happy couples are even happier during and after their wedding ceremony and reception. For the last five years, she has had the pleasure of conducting pre-wedding interviews, planning receptions and taking care of all the details so that wedding couples don’t have to worry on their big day. Tamika gets a lot of gratification from her job, as she can see her work come to fruition when wedding couples and their families are satisfied. Some couples have even grown attached to Tamika. One couple who got married in December 2005 returned to the resort the following February and again in April. They told the general manager that she was the reason they came back so many times. When Tamika is not wedding planning, she is spending time in Orange Bay with her own significant other, visiting her dad, reading or watching CNN. Her favorite movie is Diary of a Mad Black Woman and her favorite meal is ackee and saltfish with dumplings. If Tamika was on a deserted island, she would bring the bible, a photo of her dad and food..
