Althea Ann Marie Bailey, Couples Ocho Rios
This behind the scenes woman is probably better known among staffers than guests, which is all more the reason to introduce her to you in our Spotlight. Althea Bailey, or Thea, is the Accounts Payables Clerk at Couples Ocho Rios and has been handling finances at the resort for three years. She enjoys her job because of the pleasant work environment due to the type of service and hospitality provided to not only guests but staff as well. A 27-year old native of St. Mary, Jamaica, she loves the traditional red peas soup and Soca music will get her feet tapping. When she’s not crunching numbers Thea enjoys reading, cooking and listening to music. What three items does she want on her deserted island? This woman asks for, “water, red peas soup and definitely a man!”.

Stuton Martin,, Couples Negril
With 15 years of experience, Stuton Martin is the man you want mixing your drinks. Stuton, aka Boxer, brought his experience to Couples Negril two years ago. He works to make sure the bar is fully stocked so that the drinks flow steadily. An expert in mixology, his favorite drink to serve is “Service on the head.” Sound bizarre? Well, ask any bride at Couples Negril and they’ll explain that it’s a special cocktail that is served off the head to a bride who then drinks it without removing the glass from its position atop the bartender’s head. Wonder if he created that one himself? Martin hails from Cauldwell and now resides in Lucea where he enjoys his favorite food, ackee and saltfish with roast breadfruit, playing soccer, listening to music and telling jokes. This Jamaican has one deserted island request we haven’t heard of yet: food, a companion and…a bike!

Tyrone Jackson, Couples Swept Away
Couples Swept Away brings us Tyrone Jackson, a kitchen team leader at gourmet dining restaurant Feathers. A member of the Couples family for almost two years, Tyrone, better known as TJ, was born and raised in Hanover, Jamaica. His favorite part of working at Couples is being part of a team and making it the best team possible. Apparently his teamwork mindset has paid off, as he recounts his most memorable Couples moment being the time a well traveled guest, who had been to nine different countries, told TJ that his food was the best and has been returning to Couples Swept Away ever since. TJ’s own personal favorite cuisine is French, and he enjoys gospel music, reading novels and playing Nintendo. TJ is a people person and exhibits this with his request for a friend on his deserted island, along with food and clothes.


Ricardo Allen, Couples Sans Souci
Ricardo Allen, better known as Ricky among friends, was born and raised in Port Antonio, Jamaica. A new year’s baby, he was born on the first of the year in 1982 and has spent the last two and a half years of his young life as the Social Director at Couples Sans Souci. It’s a good thing his favorite part of the job is meeting new people, because socializing is at the top of his job description, along with coordinating, planning and hosting events and activities at the resort. Apparently he has a way with people, as a certain group of guests took a liking to Ricky… one year he was working on his birthday, so some guests threw him a birthday party, which he says “totally blew me away.” A self-described average 24-year-old, he enjoys horror films, hanging with friends, going to the movies, sleeping, listening to music (Christina and Ciara are his favorites) and reading. Gather up his bible, some food and a girl and he’ll make out just fine on a deserted island.
