What moment, sight or sound gets you…
We have a new column in our newsletter starting this quarter. From July through December 2004, a thread ran on the
Couples
message board entitled, “What moment, sight or sound gets you?” Started by “Jamerican T” on July 31, 2004 and followed by 163 subsequent posts, it is one of the most popular threads in our
message board community’s history. As
message board member “Dottie” put it: “This is a wonderful thread and I believe that all of our opinions count to Couples. That is what makes it so special. When you see a thread with so many wonderful memories is gives you a warm fuzzy.”
Dottie is right, everyone’s opinion does count to Couples and the touching moments and memories that were shared by guests on this chain have not been forgotten. So, for those of you who missed it, we are going to share a couple of these posts in each newsletter to help you bring back some of your own Couples memories, or perhaps persuade you to come to Couples and create some of your own.
And so we ask…What moment, sight or sound gets you?
As I stand with my feet in the surf with the stars above my head, I hear the Bamboo from the bonfire sizzle. The sounds drift my way from the beach bar where a little Jamaican man plays music on a 12 string guitar. I look at the people around me and can tell when a song or lyric is speaking to them, for some it's Buffalo Solider, others Redemption Song and myself Three Little Birds. I look out over the water and feel that my soul is one with the world. To be in the heart of the Caribbean at this place and time puts my heart at ease and everything is "Irie!".

The sound of the pool "waterfall" as it goes into the swim-up bar (CN)...
The smells of Cleon making waffles...
The smells of Blue Mountain JA Coffee...
The sight of the most perfect sunset as the catamaran comes in :D

My friends, nothing can compare to waking up on this island, Jamaica. No place on Earth compliments Mother's Nature's green wonders so beautifully. Her waters are a turquoise dream, and her gardens are a tropical paradise.
The Caribbean has always been a special place, but what this chain of resorts has accomplished is nothing shy of a miracle.
Find your own sights and sounds with the help of the Couples family. Quite simply put, go and you will go back.

Remembering falling asleep in my new husband's arms while resting in a hammock looking up at the stars in the clear night sky. Swatting the occasional sand flea off my ankle. Laughing while we stroll along the beach, pretending that this is home and we don't have a care or worry in the world. Walking down the aisle and seeing the look on my future husband's face as he saw me for the first time looking radiant in my gown. Watching my husband play in the rain while an afternoon downpour came in and everyone yelling how crazy the Texan was. Riding on the bus from MoBay for the first time seeing the people and the landscape while listening to Natural Mystic on the radio. The smell after a rain. The feel of the fresh sheets when we retire for the night. Reading the thought of the day and laughing about what it might mean. The last look I had of the lobby as the van pulled away and headed to the airport...that is the memory that I dislike the most...leaving my new home and feeling a sense of homesickness.
